Coastal Flood Advisory

* WHAT...Minor coastal flooding expected. Water levels of 4 to 6.5 feet above the normal high tide line expected.

* WHERE...Southern Seward Peninsula Coast.

* WHEN...From 4 AM Friday to 10 PM AKDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For Nome and Golovin, water levels are expected to rise to around 6 feet above the normal high tide line. In Nome, this can result in water approaching low-lying homes in Belmont Subdivision with standing water expected in the port area. For Golovin, water may inundate any beach property but the roads, buildings and residences shouldn't be impacted as the water remains below the berm. Water levels will peak Friday afternoon and gradually drop, but remain above normal through the weekend.

Flooding in Southern Seward Peninsula Coast can cut off roads with little warning, damage homes near low-lying areas, and disrupt power and water service. Even a few inches of moving water can carry away a vehicle.

This report is based on information from NWS, monitored by Alert USA's verified emergency feed.

Alert USA anticipates a high chance of travel disruptions, elevated property risk in low-lying areas, and possible power outages while the event is active.

Recommended steps: avoid flooded roads — turn around, don't drown; move to higher ground if you are in a low-lying area; charge phones and prepare for power loss; check on family and neighbors.

Alert USA is tracking this flood event and will update this report as verified information becomes available.
