High Surf Advisory

* WHAT...For the Beach Hazards Statement, increased threat of sneaker waves expected. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves 22-24 feet.

* WHERE...Coastal Del Norte, Northern Coastal Humboldt, Southwestern Humboldt and Coastal Mendocino Counties.

* WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, until midnight PST tonight. For the High Surf Advisory, from 4 AM to 10 PM PST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous surf conditions and localized beach erosion. Beachcombing is highly discouraged! Large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. These sneaker waves can also move large objects such as logs, crushing anyone caught underneath.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The large waves on Sunday will coincide with tide water levels near the highest astronomical tides. This will allow significant runup onto area beaches and may impact normally dry land or even roads or parking lots.
