The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... The Salt Fire Burn Scar in... Northern Otero County in south central New Mexico...

* Until 330 PM MDT.

* At 136 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Salt Fire Burn Scar. Between 0.3 and 0.7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Flooding in Otero, NM can cut off roads with little warning, damage homes near low-lying areas, and disrupt power and water service. Even a few inches of moving water can carry away a vehicle.
