The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Cook County in northeastern Illinois... Eastern DuPage County in northeastern Illinois...

* Until 400 PM CDT.

* At 1202 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Up to 2 inches of rainfall has occurred due to these storms in northwestern Cook County. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Flooding in Cook, IL; DuPage, IL can cut off roads with little warning, damage homes near low-lying areas, and disrupt power and water service. Even a few inches of moving water can carry away a vehicle.
